Transbeam and Lok Technology Provide NFL Draft 2006 with Secure Wireless Network Services

Transbeam's Wireless setup, utilizing LokBox device, enables Manhattan's Radio City Music Hall, host of the 2006 NFL Draft, to go wireless for the first time ever

New York, NY - May 8, 2006 - Transbeam, Inc., a leading national integrated communications provider, provided wireless broadband connectivity and services to the organizers, affiliates and attendees of the 2006 National Football League Draft.

The NFL Draft 2006 took place at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City on April 29th and 30th. The list of companies that relied on Transbeam and Lok's secure wireless network during the two-day event included several major media companies-all using this network for live broadcast and Webcasting-such as ESPN, The New York Times, Yahoo, AOL, Associated Press, in addition to twelve NFL teams.

"The users were in awe of the speed of the network, the ease of use and the security we were providing them," said Bob Wolff, Director of Event Services, Transbeam, Inc. "In fact, ESPN's lead IT technician was having trouble with their own network at the start of the NFL Draft and finally decided to sign up with Transbeam and they were up and running, with ample bandwidth, for the remainder of the event."

To effectively support the entire audience, organizers, media and NFL organizations, Transbeam only needed to deploy one LokBox 330 unit with Link Controller and four 1.5Mbit DSL connections, especially since the LokBox solution is ideal for managing the balance in traffic and utilizing the web cache to keep the needed bandwidth to a minimum. The specific LokBox applications/services that were made available at the event included: AAA, bandwidth management, IPS, web cache, captive portal, walled garden, DNS, DHCP and PF firewall.

"Time-sensitive events such as the NFL Draft-where everything must run flawlessly- are one of the best opportunities we get to demonstrate the reliability of our integrated, wireless networking devices," said Simone Rosa, Director of Marketing, Lok Technology. "The LokBox appliance is proving one event at a time that we are the most trusted source for fast, inexpensive and feature-rich wireless connectivity and services for our channel partners, technology partners, and ultimately for our mutual customers."
