Background

The hospitality market is going through rapid technological changes. Innovations in areas such as guest room controls and energy management, guest mini‐bar technology, Voice over IP telephony and IP Television and Video on Demand leave the hotelier in a technological fog. This estimated 20 billion euro worldwide market is expanding and with the growing expectations of business and high end leisure guests.

With technology comes the need for specialized staff to run the ever more complicated systems in order to reap their rewards and service the guests.

The technology infrastructure in the hotel is evolving into a main attraction point for hotel guests and can no longer be ignored.

In the annual SmartReport published by Cleverdis (HTNG Conference 4/2007) Richard Barnes, Editor in Chief, makes the strong point that “Today, in many cases, technological infrastructure should be considered the most valuable asset of a hotel.

As projects get larger and more complex a dedicated Project Manager is needed to plan, oversee and conclude the projects. Our staff is trained in conducting specific needsanalysis for the hotel, presenting a project plan and scope of work and leading the project to a specific deliverable and conclusion. Budgets – as always – are met and timelines are adhered to.

Coordination and management of all Technology Systems vendors and partners is all done under the Project with concise reports given back to the hotel management at predetermined intervals. The hotel senior staff is not bogged down with the day to day management of the technology and can focus on their tasks – knowing that the close supervision is being handled by a well trained team.
