The following instructions will walk you through the setup process for Windows 9x.
1) Begin by closing all applications. Once you have closed your applications, double click on My Computer, then Dial-Up Networking then click on Make New Connection.
2) You will be presented with a window similar to the one shown below. Type a name for your dialup in the blank field (We suggest "Transbeam"). Also, make sure that the proper modem is selected in the pull down menu. Then proceed by pushing the Next button.

3) Next, insert the area code and telephone number of the access number
you were given.

4) Simply click Finish in the final window which summarizes your new connection you created.
5) You will need to make several changes to specific settings in the dialup you just created. To do this, right click on the connection you just created and select Properties, similar to the image below.
6) A new window will appear. Select the Server Types tab at the top of the window. Ensure that the only items checked are "Enable software compression" and "TCP/IP". Your window should look similar to the image below.
7) Click on the TCP/IP button and ensure that your settings match up with the image below (These are default settings).
8) Click the OK button on the first window, then again on the second. This should bring you back to the "Dial-Up Networking" window. Double click on your dialup connection you just created and a window will pop up like the below image. Then click on the Dial Properties button.
9) In the "Dialing Properties" window that appears select the Area Code Rules button. A window similar to the one shown below will appear. Insure that Always dial the area code is selected.
10) Click OK on both the "Area Code Rules" windows and the
"Dialing Properties" window. Setup is complete. Enter your username and
password that was issued to you and click Connect and you
will be online.
Note: If you would like to create a shortcut for your dialup
on your desktop, simply right click on your new connection in the
"Dial-Up Networkng" window and select "Create Shortcut." You will be
asked if you would like to place it on your desktop. Simply choose yes.
